In the debate taking place at the Standing Committee of the Assembly of the Republic, made at the request of the PCP on fuel prices, the first party to question the Minister of the Environment and Climate Action, João Pedro Matos Fernandes, was the PSD, through the deputy Afonso Oliveira, who accused the PS Government of being “responsible for the brutal tax burden on fuel”.
Matos Fernandes made it clear that “the State does not set the price of a litre of diesel or gasoline”.
According to the official, “diesel and gasoline increase because oil is increasing”.
“The tax burden is exactly what it used to be and the value of the ISP, contrary to what is often said, is the fixed value, completely independent of the price”, guaranteed the minister.
According to Matos Fernandes, “the State really does not want to have more revenue” and therefore what it “does is to deduct [the increase] in the value of VAT at the ISP”.
And you believe this?
How is it that the fuel is cheaper in Spain?
