Chega's electoral program, with the motto "Save Portugal", was presented by the party's president in a hotel in Lisbon, in front of deputies and leaders.
One of the measures involves "increasing the national minimum wage to 1,000 euros by 2026 and 1,150 euros by 2029 and creating a support program for companies that demonstrate a weight of fixed operational costs greater than 30%, so that they can cope with the increase in wages to be paid".
Currently, the national minimum wage is set at 870 euros.
In the electoral program for the legislative elections of 18 May, Chega also proposes "ensuring an increase in the minimum pension".
"In the first phase, it should be equal to the value of the IAS [Social Support Index] and, subsequently, to the value of the SMN [national minimum wage]", reads the document released today, which does not specify a date.
During the presentation of the electoral program, which lasted more than an hour and a half, without the right to questions from journalists, the president of Chega considered that "this is a challenge".
"We cannot continue to have the poverty that we have throughout this country. Poverty among the elderly creates pressure on health services, on housing services, it generates depopulation, it generates desertification, it generates social destruction," he argued.
André Ventura argued that this will be possible "with a realistic macroeconomic scenario, with realistic economic growth, but also with the restructuring that needs to be done in services, in a realistic way".
Immigration
Chega's electoral program says that the party wants to prevent the entry of people with criminal records and "ensure that, if they commit a crime in national territory, they are immediately sent back to their country of origin".
Still on the subject of immigration, Chega insists on the establishment of quotas, the end of CPLP residence permits, and the reformulation of AIMA, so that it concentrates "the administrative aspect with the police aspect".
The party also once again proposes holding a referendum "on the establishment of maximum limits for granting residence permits and on the establishment of immigration quotas".
The Chega leader also proposed the end of all tolls in the country, considering that they are "becoming a cancer and reducing competitiveness in the Spanish market".
"I will end all tolls in Portugal, all, all, all," he promised.
Taxes
In terms of taxes, Chega wants to lower the IRC to 15% "over the course of the legislature, with immediate effect for companies with registered offices in inland municipalities", reduce the maximum VAT rate from 23% to 21% and eliminate the additional tax on petroleum and energy products.
Ventura also said that the party will again propose a constitutional review "at the beginning of the next legislature".
In its electoral program, Chega once again presents a measure to combat bestiality and the introduction of chemical castration "on a temporary basis and for repeat offenders".
