Lisbon City Council sold 1,630 municipal houses from 2008 to 2021, raising €46.8 million. The PSD/CDS-PP leadership, which governs without an absolute majority, wants to complete the ongoing sales, but the opposition will suspend the processes.
Speaking to the Lusa agency, the councillor for Housing, Filipa Roseta, said that the policy of selling municipal dwellings to their tenants began in 2008, during a period in which the PS was at the head of the governance of the city of Lisbon.
Social housing is an essential resource to tackle poverty. Why would socialists sell them?

Oh, Ian, you´ve been living here for a while; haven´t you heard of the expression ”Caviar Left”? lol

Well, caviar left or not, most peole would like to own their home for several reasons, one is it gives a better self esteem, second, ***** land lords not taking care, third, on the long haul its an addition to your pension scheme if at all so all in all its well understandable, has nothing to do with left or right, the term affordable housing goes for rent and ownership for devades.

Guida. I have yet to find a truly socialist government anywhere. Both the left and right are just opposite sides of the same coin.
