“There will be an order in the next few days to increase the capacity of daycare centres. Many of the [refugees] who arrive are mothers with children and, when they are small, they have to go to day care centres. That's why we're going to increase our daycare capacity,” said vice-president Catarina Marcelino.
“In addition to welcoming the refugees, we wanted to ensure that the people who arrived had a roof over their heads, food and someone to help them”, she explained.
Catarina Marcelino said that the next steps are to integrate children and young people into day care centres and schools, and to find jobs “so that they can have autonomy and move on with their lives”.
