The President of Ukraine has accepted Portugal's invitation and will address the Portuguese Parliament by videoconference. The information was released by the President of the Assembly of the Republic, Augusto Santos Silva, in statements to TSF and Diário de Notícias.
Volodymyr Zelensky thus accepted the invitation made by Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa and Augusto Santos Silva and will speak to Portuguese deputies via video call, as has happened in speeches he has made in other parliaments.
There is still no date for the Ukrainian President's speech, but it could be scheduled in the next few hours, said the newly elected president of the Assembly of the Republic, adding that he received the Ukrainian ambassador to Portugal this Thursday, who confirmed the availability of Zelensky.
The invitation to a formal session with Zelensky in the Portuguese Parliament was supported by all parties with a parliamentary seat, with the exception of the PCP.
