"At the invitation of the President of the Republic and the Prime Minister, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky will travel to Portugal tomorrow [Tuesday], May 28", reads a note published on the official website of the Presidency of the Republic.

According to this note, released simultaneously by the office of the Prime Minister, Luís Montenegro, "President Zelensky's working visit is part of the shared intention of deepening the excellent relations between the two states, with a particular focus on strengthening cooperation in the field of security and defense".

"During his stay, the President of Ukraine will have working meetings with the Prime Minister, Luís Montenegro, and will be received by President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa", the text adds.

According to the same joint note, this visit by Zelensky to Portugal "will also be an opportunity to reiterate Portugal's commitment to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, as well as to maintaining political, military, financial and humanitarian support for Kyiv ".

Today, the President of Ukraine, during his visit to Spain – which was scheduled for May 17th, but was cancelled – also confirmed that he will visit Portugal.

"Yes, I plan to go to Portugal," said Zelensky, at a press conference with the head of the Spanish Government, Pedro Sánchez, in Madrid.
