“Our commitment is to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, reducing emissions by more than 85% and strengthening the capacity to sequester carbon through land use and forests up to 13 million tons of carbon per year”, he highlighted.
Huge challenge
The government official admitted that it is a huge challenge, and for the target to be met it is necessary to “reduce the burned areas by 60%”.
“From around 164,000 hectares per year between 1998 and 2017, to 60,000 hectares per year by 2050. It is undoubtedly a huge collective challenge, but also a huge opportunity for the preservation and sustainable increase of our forest assets and for the urgent preservation of the rural world and the balance of our forests”, he pointed out.
By making towns empty, with no commerce (or the cheapest, ugliest, most useless shops where they don't even have the light on) and by forcing people to drive out to those horrendously out-dated shopping malls with left overs from other countries??? Where is the vision of an environmentally friendly policy?
