According to a statement issued by the PSP, "employees of companies that provide support services in the area of ​​luggage and cargo, proceeded to steal objects from passengers' luggage, as well as cargo from imports or for export".

"Through opening or breaking into, they stole items such as clothing, footwear, electronic equipment, jewellery, watches and money among other things", according to the PSP.

As part of the operation carried out by the Criminal Investigation Division, with the support of the Airport Security Division, "six men aged between 42 and 59 years", employees of the companies, have been arrested according to the PSP.

The police said that, during house searches carried out as part of the operation, "some goods were recovered, especially electronic equipment (laptop computers, tablet PCs, cell phones and speakers), watches, clothing and backpacks".

The 10 house search warrants and 18 non-household search warrants took place "in the areas of Maia, Vila do Conde, Vila Nova de Gaia and Gondomar", in the Porto district.
