The mayors of Lisbon, Oeiras and Cascais have decided to move forward with an intervention plan for the coastal and riverside areas of the three municipalities, and to request a meeting with the Minister of Infrastructure and Housing.

According to a statement issued by the press office of the Lisbon Municipal Council (CML), the mayors of Lisbon, Carlos Moedas, Oeiras, Isaltino Morais, and Cascais, Carlos Carreiras, met Thursday, June 16, "to evaluate strategies to provide answers to problems that are shared by the three municipalities".

At the meeting, "it was decided that it will be necessary to move forward with a master plan for the entire long coastal and riverside area, seeking to streamline resources and decision-making authority to increase the efficacy of problem-solving in each area".

The mayors also decided to request a meeting with the Minister of Infrastructure and Housing, Pedro Nuno Santos, "as a result of several issues raised," CML noted.

In the note, CML stressed that this was the first of several meetings that the three mayors, "leaders of three of the most prosperous municipalities in the country," will hold to "deepen municipal cooperation and develop a vision for the future of their territories".
