Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa was speaking to journalists at the end of a series of bilateral meetings he had during the United Nations (UN) Ocean Conference that takes place this week at Altice Arena, in Lisbon.

Asked if he already has a date for a possible trip to Kiev, Ukraine, after the invitation of his counterpart, Volodymyr Zelensky, the Portuguese head of state replied that he had not yet and referred to his agenda for the coming months and “other priorities”.

“No, I don't know yet, now I have other priorities already defined: I'm going to Brazil on the same day that the [Oceans] conference ends here, then I'm going to New York still on the subject of sustainability, as part of the commitment I made with the president of the Economic and Social Council”, he added.

Marcelo continued, saying that he would then receive the president of the CPLP and Cape Verde in Portugal and recalled the trip to Mozambique, scheduled for August.

“And then I have commitments that I made years ago with the Portuguese communities on the American west coast, with Canada because of the 70 years of diplomatic relations and then several other specific ones”, he added.

Asked if his agenda is already full until the end of the year, Marcelo replied: “It is not full until the end of the year, but it is very full until the end of October, but that does not mean that it is not possible to fill it up a little more,” he said.
