The fire, which broke out at 12:06, in the parish of Caranguejeira, spread to the parish of Boa Vista and forced the closure of the A1, between Pombal and Leiria, and Fátima and Leiria.

According to GNR captain Rui Costa, the alternative is complementary route 2 (IC2) to the north of Leiria and Estrada Nacional 113, to the south.
