The Minister of Defense has admitted that, if necessary, the
Armed Forces may be brought in to reinforce personnel to help combat and
prevent forest fires in Portugal.

“This reinforcement can be activated at any time, if deemed
necessary”, said Helena Carreiras.
Mainland Portugal is in a contingency situation until Sunday
due to weather forecasts, with very high temperatures in some parts of the
country, and the risk of fire.
