According to a statement from the National Institute of Medical Emergency (INEM), in view of the increase in the volume of emergency medical services that has occurred, INEM in conjunction with its partners in SIEM - fire brigades (CB) and Portuguese Red Cross (CVP) – they have "prepared a new reinforcement of medical emergency means, in order to make it more efficient" in the months of August and September.

It is up to INEM to "constantly monitor and analyse the real needs of the population" and, whenever necessary, "to adjust or reinforce emergency means to adapt the system's capacity".

"In this way, the present plan will continue to be monitored, with constant monitoring of the evolution of the levels of activations by region, and may be adjusted or reinforced according to operational demand, in temporal and geographical terms", states INEM.
