The weather forecast for the coming days points to “a
typical summer scenario”, said the Secretary of State for Civil Protection,
Patrícia Gaspar, at the headquarters of the National Emergency and Civil
Protection Authority (ANEPC), in Carnaxide, Oeiras, after a videoconference
meeting with members of various government areas to assess weather conditions
and fire risk.
Patrícia Gaspar recalled that some areas of the country,
especially in the north and central interior, have municipalities with a high
risk of fire, with the coastal and southern areas in a less serious situation,
and warned that a “drought situation remains” in almost the entire country so
the Portuguese must maintain “adequate behaviour”, especially in rural and
forest areas.
