According to data from ACAP – Associação Automóvel de Portugal: “In the seven months of 2022, 106,879 new vehicles went into circulation, which represented a decrease of 5.9% compared to the period from January to July 2021 and a drop of 38% compared to the same period in 2019”.

In July alone, 16,897 cars were registered, an increase of 18.8% compared to the same month of 2021 but a decline of 22.5% compared to July 2019.

By category, in July, 14,495 new passenger cars were registered, a rise of 17.6% compared to the same month of the previous year and a decrease of 21.4% compared to 2019.

Between January and July, passenger car registrations fell by 4.1%, compared to the same period in 2021, to 89,944 units. Compared to the same period in 2019, the drop was 38.8%.

“In the seven months of 2022, 38.2% of new registered light passenger vehicles were powered by other types of energy, namely electric and hybrid. In particular, it appears that 9.9% of new light passenger vehicles were electric”.
