“[…] From January to June 2022, there was a decrease of
1.28% in value in exports compared to the same period of 2021, having exceeded
432 million euros (5.6 million euros less compared to the same period in 2021)”,
states ViniPortugal.
The association highlighted the growth of exports in markets
such as Angola (+55.2%) and Japan (+21.6%).
On the other hand, Russia showed a drop of 62.1% in this
period.
China, Germany and Sweden are also among the markets with
the biggest declines, with losses of 47.7%, 12.8% and 16.8%, respectively.
Between January and June, exports of Portuguese wines to the
EU market fell by 5.1%, while third countries increased by 2.2% compared to the
same period in 2021.
“Wine exports have been falling for a few months, figures
that we started to predict since the moment when producers registered a lack of
raw material in their production and problems in their distribution”, said the
president of the ViniPortugal – Interprofessional Wine Association, Frederico
Falcão.
