According to the same source, the situation reported in Olhos de Água happened during “a patrolling action” of Operation “Campo Seguro 2022”, in which the police saw a man picking carobs on an agricultural land. During the procedure, they realised that “the suspect did not have any authorization from the landowner” to pick up the product. In total, 27 kilos of carob were seized, which were returned to the landowner.

In Paderne, the action resulted from a complaint. The police arrived at the scene and found two suspects aged 19 and 29. The suspects tried to flee, “having been intercepted and detained later.” In total, 30 kilos of carobs, an awning, and a vehicle were seized.

All the facts of both situations were communicated to the Albufeira Judicial Court.
