According to Lusa, in August, 77 ARIs were awarded, of which
64 were for the acquisition of real estate (31 for urban rehabilitation) and 13
for capital transfers.
In the first eight months of this year, 806 gold visas were
issued (94 in January, 94 in February, 73 in March, 121 in April, 112 in May,
155 in June, 80 in July and 77 in August).
It should also be noted that, in August, 19 golden visas
were granted to China, 10 to Brazil, another 10 to the United States, five to
Pakistan and four to Morocco.
Since the ARI grant program was launched in October 2012,
almost €6.5 billion have been raised through this instrument, according to the
news agency, and 11,060 golden visas have been allocated.
Sadly areas like Cascais are largely bought up by Golden Visa investors who never intend to live in Portugal and merely rent out their properties. Prices in Cascais are enormously overvalued for the low quality of what's available. 1 million Euros in the Cascais region might get you an old semi-detached house that needs modernising with a small garden on a polluted main road. At best.
