Speaking to journalists in Esposende, Jorge Delgado
highlighted the Government's decision not to increase, in 2023, the prices of
public transport passes.
“Of course there are problems and that's why we're here. But
it also seems to me that in recent years a huge, giant step has been taken in
promoting the improvement of better mobility for everyone”, he said.
The Secretary of State referred, in particular, to the
creation of the Public Transport Fare Reduction Support Program (PART), which
he classified as “an unprecedented moment, a revolution, which promoted a very
expressive reduction in the price of tickets” of public transport and a “very
significant increase” in demand.
However, admitted the official, “there is still a lot to
do”, with the aim of improving the physical conditions of the transport
networks, with the renewal of fleets.
“We have to greatly improve active mobility, whether walking
or cycling. And we have to keep pushing everyone to understand that public
transport and shared transport are the best solutions for everyday life”, he
said.
How many decades are these improvements going to take????
