In 2021, as in the previous two years, Portugal was once again the European champion in bicycle production. In all, 13.5 million bicycles were produced in the European Union (EU) last year, with Portugal leading the ranking (2.9 million).

According to the European statistical office, completing the podium of the main bicycle producers in the EU are Romania and Italy, with 2.5 million and 1.9 million vehicles created, respectively.

Eurostat points out that cycling, in addition to promoting people's health and well-being, helps to reduce car use and reduce air pollution.
