The missing person is around 30 years old and has “some
mental health problems, such as bipolarity”, according to the police.
Efforts have been made to locate the woman today, who has
been named as Tânia Fernandes by CM.
António Ramalho, the official responsible for Public
Relations of the Faro Territorial Command of the GNR, told Lusa: “[After the
disappearance alert] The cell phone location was immediately requested, we
received the cell phone location the next day, but [the device] was not there”,
added the official.
The authorities ended up locating the woman’s car “next to
the church of Cabanas de Tavira” and “inside was her cell phone, identification
and money”, said the same source, stressing that “searches and steps are being
carried out to locate her”.
“All possible institutions have been alerted - Maritime
Police, Firefighters -, and the steps are underway, the [search] perimeter is
expanding, but so far there has been no success”, he continued.
According to the website of the National Civil Protection
Authority, at 15:30, the land search and rescue operation in Cabanas de Tavira
involved 16 personnel supported by seven vehicles.
