The Minister of the Environment and Climate Action, Duarte
Cordeiro, will present "new measures to mitigate the increase in energy
costs", on Wednesday, October 12, at 10:00 am, according to an agenda note
sent by the Ministry to the press.
The indication that new measures would be presented to
respond to energy prices, it should be recalled, had already been given by the
Prime Minister, António Costa, and by the Minister of Finance, Fernando Medina.
The Government will inject another €3,000 million into the
electricity and gas systems to limit energy prices, according to the final
version of the Social Dialogue agreement that was signed by the social
partners.
"Together with the regulatory measures, an additional
€3 billion will be injected into the electricity and gas systems, thus limiting
the rise in energy prices," the agreement reads.
According to the Executive, "these measures translate
into significant reductions in the cost of electricity consumed by economic
sectors, which include large consumers".
