“We hope to have thousands of people here in Pombal this weekend to participate in the various dynamics that are prepared in the Medieval Market”, said Pedro Pimpão, noting that favourable weather conditions are forecast, so “expectations are high”.

The mayor said that the “objective is to associate this Medieval Market with one of the heritage and identity” of the municipality.

“The idea is also to talk a little about the origin of the Castle and its importance on this defensive front on the Mondego line and, therefore, it is to combine History with the dynamics that the Medieval Market has”, declared Pedro Pimpão.

“Sponsored by the company ‘Décadas de Sonho’, the 2023 Medieval Market will be focused on the theme ‘The construction of Pombal Castle’, in the context of the Christian Reconquest”, clarified the same note.

For three days, the municipality, which organizes the event in partnership with the Association for the Development of Local Initiatives, guarantees multiple activities, such as military and Moorish camps, street entertainment, children's games, falconry shows, music, medieval and oriental dances, historical recreations, demonstration of crafts, artisans and small taverns.

Pedro Pimpão stressed that the event includes 58 exhibitors, "a very significant number".

As in previous editions, the Chamber provides free urban public transport (Pombus) between Largo do Cardal and Castelo.
