Between the 16th and the 22nd of May (with an interruption between 2:00 am and 11:00 pm on the 19th), there will be a complete cut in pedestrian and road traffic in the areas closest to Estádio Cidade de Coimbra, namely in Rua do Estádio, D Manuel I (from the Alma shopping center loading pier), D. João III and Jorge Anjinho, said the Coimbra Council. The traffic restrictions are due to the Coldplay concerts in the city on the 17th, 18th, 20th and 21st.
In addition to the ban on the streets surrounding the stadium, there will also be restrictions to traffic on several roads in a wider area, where only public transport, residents, access to private property and the Alma shopping centre and companies providing services will be allowed between 2 pm and 8 pm.
These restrictions will be applied in the streets of Combatentes, General Humberto Delgado, Avelar Brotero and Infanta D. Maria, Alameda Júlio Henriques and Rua do Brasil, among others.
With regard to school establishments in the area, there will be parking spaces for picking up and dropping off children on Rua General Humberto Delgado, next to the Solum Kindergarten, a parking lot for picking up and dropping off children next to Jardim Escola João de Deus and another on Rua Infanta D. Maria for pick-up and drop-off of children from Solum's EB1.
To facilitate the movement of people who want to attend the shows, the Coimbra Chamber has reinforced the offer of lines that cover the surroundings of the stadium and will provide four special circuits of public transport.
In this sense, there will be a reinforcement of line 5 (Coimbra-B - Solum), on May 17th and 18th, reinforcement of line 5F (with a similar route) and 7T and 24T (Praça da República – Portagem – Estádio) on the 20th and May 21.
In addition to reinforcing existing lines, there will be four special circuits originating in the main peripheral parking areas (including Coimbra-B Station, the FlixBus stop and the road station), with timetables between 11:00 am and 1:00 am: 30 on all days of the concert.
The municipality's statement also identifies 16 peripheral car parks in various parts of the city, which can be used for concert days, such as Coimbra-B, Quinta da Portela, Planalto de Santa Clara, Parque Verde, Rebolim or Polo II, with a total capacity of 10,500 seats.
