Pequeno Mundo is situated in an old villa in Almancil.
There is a welcoming reception, with an aperitif by the fireplace/bar.
Exactly what my ideal restaurant looks like.
It has a unique romantic atmosphere, inside and outside, a beautiful patio (where you can eat in the summer), and earth tones. A bit classic and French, but not stiff. Just fine.
This restaurant has been around for more than 25 years and has a well-deserved Michelin mention. The daughter has taken over the business from her parents and she is a perfect hostess.
Valentim Carmo is a great chef, who can not only make traditional dishes but can also conjure up vegetarian and vegan dishes.
The staff, who have been here for a long time, are very nice and professional, but not stiff. They also have a good sense of humour.
It is a nice menu with delicious vegetarian options for starter, main course, and dessert, which can also be made vegan on request.
Romantic 5-course tasting menu for 85 euros.
Mains are between 20 and 31 euro.
A glass of great wine is 12,50 euro.
My dinner starts with tasty warm rolls and olive oil, followed by a delicious amuse-bouche of green asparagus. Fantastic starter, green risotto with seaweed. Lemon spoon as a snack, with almond liqueur and almond, Yum!
A beautiful main course, an extensive vegetable dish, delicious!
And for the last course... possibly the best dessert I've ever had. 3 flavours of vegan sorbet ice cream, with fresh fruit, yum!
What a wonderful evening!
Highly recommended!
PS too bad they only do dinner... I would like to become a regular lunch guest for the beautiful summer days on the fantastic patio.
