In the video, the group of five orcas are filmed following the boat and then ramming into the back of it.
Sailor Phep Philouceros, told SWNS: “The rudder was destroyed in one minute and pulled out”.
It is reported that a rescue boat came to his aid within 15 minutes but “the orcas continued to ram his yacht for another half an hour as it was being towed back to the port of Sagres”.
According to Insider: “Philouceros, who encountered such an attack for the first time, thinks the orcas were young."They were about six or seven meters long. They were neither adults nor babies. If the orcas really wanted to sink the boat, they could have done it easily. I don't think it was their intention," the sailor said".
I do not think that the Orcas attacked the yacht in order to sink it. Rather, thoroughly annoy that this foreign object had penetrated the area in which they were swimming, they were chasing it off. Further, why did the yachtsman, if you can call him that, not alter course to keep out of their way. He must have, if having kept the customary seaman like lookout for objects, or other yachts, seen them and should have steered clear of them, not straight into them. The Sea is their home, it belongs to them, not sailors who are mere intrusions into their lives. I write as an RYA Accredited Yacht Captain of some forty five years experience without incident at sea.

Orcas never attack humans in the wild. These young Orcas were letting this boat know that it was intruding in their home waters.
