The Eastern group of the Azores is today under a yellow weather warning due to heavy precipitation, announced the IPMA, which issued the same warning for the Central group between tonight and Friday morning.

According to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA), for the Eastern group, which comprises the islands of Santa Maria and São Miguel, the yellow warning for precipitation started at 10:00 local time (11:00 in Lisbon) and is due to last until 24:00.
On Terceira, Faial, Pico, São Jorge and Graciosa islands (Central group), the warning is in effect between 20:00 today and 12:00 on Friday.
In both cases, rain can be accompanied by thunderstorms.
