The Arrifana de Sousa Medical Clinic Group will pass into the hands of CUF, which includes a hospital with two operating rooms and six clinics in the locations of Penafiel, Lousada, Marco de Canaveses, Paredes, Alpendurada and Vila Meã, employing a total of 300 people. According to a report by ECO, the deal, which is still awaiting the green light from the Competition Authority, reinforces the presence in the North of the country of the group led by Salvador de Mello.
The purchase and sale contract has already been signed with the previous shareholders, who began activity in this sector in 1982 with a small space providing general and family medicine and nursing healthcare in Penafiel. This movement represents the arrival of CUF in the Tâmega e Sousa region, where more than half a million people live, just over a month after the purchase of AtlantiCare clinics was authorised.
Without revealing the value of the investment, CUF indicates in a statement that this purchase is based on an “expansion and consolidation strategy that remains firm with the intention of continuing to reach more and more territories and parts of the country, consolidating its integrated care network of health at a national level, in order to respond to the needs of the population”.
“CUF will continue this success story, contributing to the socioeconomic development of a region that, in itself, is already very dynamic and has very qualified human resources. To this end, the quality of the work developed so far by the current team at Clínica Médica Arrifana de Sousa will contribute, which we [hope] to continue to count on in the future”, adds the group, which now has 31 units in the country.
