Organised by The Campus at Quinta do Lago with the support of the Portuguese Tennis Federation, the event will take place on October 7-15.
One year after making its debut on the women's tour as an ITF W25 (with prize money of $25.000), the tournament will be promoted to an ITF W40 ($40.000). The request, made by the International Tennis Federation and promptly accepted by the organisers, means the 2023 champion will earn 70 WTA points.
The Campus Carby VW Ladies Open will be the first of three consecutive women's tournaments in the Algarve, followed by Faro and Loulé.
It will not only be the most important among the three, but also the most important ever held in the Algarve.
Even considering all the tournaments ever held in the Algarve (women and male), The Campus Carby VW Ladies Open will still be considered one of the most important ever, only outgrown in points and prize money by two ATP Challenger held in Vilamoura in the 80s.
