"29.4% of households that rent a house in Portugal are financially overburdened: they spend more than 40% of their disposable income to pay housing expenses", according to a post on social media.
These housing expenses, it should be noted, include rent, water and electricity bills, among others.
In the European Union (EU) this rate is 21%, which means that Portugal is above the EU average, according to the same data.
Great to tell us all of this, but do you think can practically be done about it. Maybe be more solution oriented.

40%??? Try doubling that! I'm lucky that I got on the property ladder a decade ago (euribor also making that expensive) but I have many friends who rent and then can barely afford to do much else because of exorbitant prices. Families with 3 children in 2 bed apartments which charge more that one person's monthly income...
A sad state of affairs.

This is why a rent freeze is needed!
