Monchique City Council believes the fair to be much more than making individual memories but one that will “not allow traditions to be forgotten”.
Monchique is an Algarve town with around 2,300 inhabitants, according to the Parish Council. The municipality has an area of 395.30 km² and 6,045 inhabitants (2011), subdivided into 3 parishes.
The municipality is limited to the north by the municipality of Odemira, to the east by Silves, to the south by Portimão, to the southwest of Lagos and to the west by Aljezur. The municipality of Monchique was created in 1773, through the division of the municipality of Silves.
