He added that at this moment, and with the current restructuring plan underway, which imposes limits of routes and devices, “investing in any place means disinvesting in another”.

“We have to manage a portfolio of routes and planes, we have to allocate them where they best serve the country. If at any time it is justified that it makes sense to take it from Lisbon or Porto and put it in the Algarve, this analysis will be carried out”, explained the TAP CEO as reported by Publituris.

Asked directly about whether the Algarve would not justify greater investment by the national flag carrier, Luís Rodrigues was clear and said that, currently, there do not seem to be “conditions to consider this”.

“What we are saying is that, at the moment, with the conditions we have, investing anywhere means disinvesting elsewhere and, therefore, at this moment, it does not seem to me that there are conditions to consider that”, he explained.

“Right now, we have to stabilise our operation, consolidate what we are doing well, which is getting better and will continue to improve”.
