“Integrity in sport is a structural axis of our activity and this legislation responds to many of the concerns that over the years we have presented to the political and judicial authorities and also to all political parties that have now unanimously approved this law ”, stated Fernando Gomes, in statements released by the FPF.
On Friday, the Sport Integrity and Combating Unsportsmanlike Behavior Regime came into force, which compiles all the regulations that already existed relating to criminal and disciplinary offenses resulting from sports corruption and manipulation.
The regime contemplates the creation of the National Platform to Combat the Manipulation of Sports Competitions, a new body that works alongside the National Unit to Combat Corruption of the Judiciary Police (UNCC), in which the FPF is the only federation with a seat, alongside other experts from the sports movement appointed by the Portuguese Olympic Committee (COP) and the Portuguese Institute of Sport and Youth (IPDJ).
