A report by Remitly has highlighted which cities around the world make it easiest for new residents to make friends and find new communities in their area, based on how many Meetup groups can be found in each destination.

Among Europe’s rankings for the cities where it’s easiest to make friends Lisbon in Portugal.

The Top 10 European Cities with the Most Community Spirit:

  6. Edinburgh
  7. Lyon
  8. Paris

  10. Bristol

Switzerland’s largest city Zurich topped the rankings, offering 16.9 Meetup groups per 10,000 people. Groups in the city cater to enthusiasts across a whole range of hobbies and interests, from board games or photography to indoor football or swimming.

The capital of Portugal, Lisbon obtained 4th place in the top 5 European cities with the most community spirit, offering 9.4 Meetup groups per 10,000 people and a total of 488 Meetup groups.
