The car market in Portugal grew 13.4% between January and April, with 89,415 new vehicles in circulation, according to ACAP – Associação Automóvel de Portugal.
According to ECO, “From January to April 2024, 89,415 new vehicles were put into circulation, which represents an increase of 13.4% compared to the same period of the previous year”, said the association in a statement.
In April alone, 20,895 cars were registered, which represents a growth of 14.3% compared to the same month of the previous year. By category, in the first four months, there were 76,373 registrations of light passenger vehicles, 11.8% more than in the same period last year.
“ From January to April 2024, 52.2% of new registered passenger vehicles were powered by other types of energy, namely electric and hybrid”, he detailed. In turn, the light goods market increased by 28% in the first four months of the year, totaling 10,625 units.
The heavy vehicle market, which includes passenger and freight vehicles, registered 2,417 units, rising 7.9% compared to the first four months of 2023.
