According to the National Statistics Institute (INE), in April "all regions showed positive year-on-year variations in housing rents, with Lisbon registering the most intense increase (7.4%)".
In monthly terms, the average value of housing rent per square meter registered a variation of 0.6% (0.9% in the previous month).
The region with the highest positive monthly variation was Lisbon (0.7%), with no region being observed with a negative variation in the respective average value of housing rents.
The increase should not be a surprise since the landlords were allowed to increase rent by 6.94 percent this year. I don't understand, did inflation cause the landlord's expenses to go up 6.94 percent? Doubtful.
