Speaking to Lusa, Raimundo Carreiro had said that this plane could take around 100 tons of merchandise to the region of Brazil, the most dramatically affected by the floods, but "the initial prediction", did not come to fruition, and now there are around 11 tons are on board, the diplomat explained.

At the time, Raimundo Carreira had already mentioned that the cargo would only be definitively closed on Monday, the day before the flight's departure.

According to the ambassador, "from an aerial point of view, the negotiations end with this [Tap flight]" to send donations from Portugal to Brazil, and whatever is left in storage will go by ship.

According to a statement issued on Monday by Transportadora Aérea Portuguesa, the humanitarian flight by TAP and the Portuguese State "will be carried out on an Airbus A330-900 neo, which will only carry cargo, and with the collaboration of the crew made up of two pilots and two cabin crew, assigned specifically for this flight".

The plane departs from Lisbon airport and is destined for São Paulo and will take on board essential goods such as diapers, clothes, and hygiene items, the note said.

At this moment, according to the survey carried out for the Brazilian Embassy in Lisbon by the various entities that coordinate the aid, there are still 300 tons of donations stored in Portugal to be sent to Rio Grande do Sul.
