It has been running in London for at least 12 years and has won many theatrical awards during its run at The President Hotel in London Bloomsbury.
The guests are treated to a simple 70’s style dinner which in part is served by Basil, Sybil, and Manuel. Many things go wrong during the meal with often hilarious consequences. No two shows are the same as there is much ad-libbing throughout the interactive show where the audience are a part of proceedings. In fact the cast enjoy it more when things go spectacularly wrong.
Faulty Towers The Dining Experience has been described as “theatre at its startling best” by Best Of London Theatre London West End.
There is not much wokeness in this smash hit comedy show as Basil continually bullies the waiter Manuel and is bullied in turn by his wife. The original series was set in a hotel in Torquay where Basil is quite the rudest hotel owner ever. His wife Sybil is constantly rebuking him and Basil is very hard on the hapless Spanish waiter. There are several scenes in which Manuel appears to be physically abused by Basil but in fact it is very clever play acting and marvellously funny to non-woke people. If you are under 30 you are in unlikely to be in favour of this show.
The performance will take place in the magnificent baronial hall at The Fortaleza in Praia da Luz near Lagos on November 8th gathering at 6.30 and has completely sold out, however a second show will take place at The Fortaleza on Saturday 9th of November.
The Fortaleza is one of the most iconic restaurants in the Algarve. Apart from the wonderful old interior it has beautiful outdoor and enclosed terraces with magnificent sea views. The cost will be 85 euros to include that 70’s style meal, a half bottle of wine and water.
Reserved tickets available from faultytowersalgarve@gmail.com (that is a u in Faulty Towers not a w).
Seating capacity is just 75 and the first show sold out in 5 days so the organisers are staging a second show 9th November and would love to hear from any venue in the Algarve that can seat 75-120 people who understand the concept and would like to try it.
