The information was provided in an interview with DN/TSF by the Minister of the Presidency himself, António Leitão Amaro.
The official presentation is scheduled for 4pm and according to DN, immigrant associations and other entities linked to the sector have already been invited. The plan was drawn up in recent weeks after representatives of all parties with parliamentary seats, associations, experts, and the Agency for Migration, Integration and Asylum (AIMA) were consulted.
With the issue of migration on the rise since the election campaign - and again now in the European elections -, the Government has been under pressure to show solutions. The PS left the decision on essential issues in the sector, such as the bonds of the Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries (CPLP), to the winner of the elections.
Since the election campaign, the PSD has defended "borders with open doors, but not wide open doors", in a centrist position between what Chega defends - tougher rules - and the continuity of PS policies, with greater flexibility in rules.
I am not a Chegabot, but someone who is living thru multiple crises as a result of a borders with open doors policy. I hope Portugal avoids this chaos.
