The ceremony, which brought together several producers and entities, was the culmination of the Algarve Wine Competition, whose tastings took place on the 24th of May, at the Convento de S. José, in Lagoa, with the technical direction of the competition being the responsibility of the Wine Commission do Algarve (CVA), with the support of the Municipality of Lagoa.

In the end, the Grand Gold Medal went to the wine produced by Quinta dos Vales.

In total, 117 Algarve wines were tasted, “including excellent quality whites, rosés and reds from 32 producers”, according to the CVA.

In addition to the big winner, another 37 wines were distinguished and 10 Gold medals and 27 Silver medals were awarded.

“The Algarve Wine Competition aims to award distinctions to bottled wines from the Algarve. The aim is to stimulate the production of quality wines, as well as promote the best wines produced in the Algarve Region”, concludes the CVA.
