“The year-on-year variation in housing rents per square meter was 7.1% in May 2024, an identical value to the previous month”, according to the INE and reported by idealista.
House rents continue to increase across the country, as all regions showed positive year-on-year variations in house rents, with Lisbon registering the most intense increase (7.4%).
As for the monthly variation in house rents paid by tenants, there was a slight slowdown in this increase. “The average value of housing rents per square meter registered a monthly variation of 0.4% (0.6% in the previous month)”, INE also states. This slight monthly increase in incomes was felt in all regions of the country, and was even “identical to the national total (0.4%)”.
Unfortunately no end in sight. This will not be good going forward.
