Carlos Moedas' executive managed to expand the offer of night parking in the city, both through EMEL parks and through partner Telpark, using parking spaces that were empty at night, meeting those who have difficulties in parking in public spaces.

"Since the beginning of the mandate, we have sought to explore all solutions that can mitigate the parking problems of the city's citizens, especially at night, when the vast majority return to their homes. This was another path, as are the articulation of the Navegante pass and the free use in the Navegante car parks at the entrances to the city, also allowing the articulation with the use of bicycles from the Gira network. Also in the area of mobility, I cannot fail to highlight the fundamental measure of free public transport, which already has more than 105 thousand adhesions between the oldest and the youngest", stresses the Mayor of Lisbon, Carlos Moedas.

Night parking will be considered in these parks during the period between 18:00 pm and 10:00 am during the week and all day on weekends and holidays.

This campaign covers 36 car parks in 14 parish councils in Lisbon.

The amount to be paid will be €22/month, without the need to deliver the EMEL badge.

For the vice-president of the City Council, Filipe Anacoreta Correia, "These 3,500 spaces are created to make it easier for Lisboners to park. We want citizens to be able to have the option of parking safely and with the convenience of having a guaranteed space, at a daily price of 70 cents, cheaper than a coffee. In addition, we are contributing to removing cars from the street."

João Almeida, Telpark's territorial director for Portugal reinforces that: "Telpark seeks to function as a fundamental partner of city councils to find and define creative mobility solutions that improve the quality of life of citizens and contribute to reducing the impact on the environment".

"This partnership demonstrates EMEL's commitment to increasing the offer of parking for residents in Lisbon", says Carlos Silva, president of EMEL.

This measure is part of a broader strategy of the Lisbon City Council that wants to privilege parking in a parking lot, to the detriment of parking in public spaces.

At the same time, this executive increased the number of 24-hour parking permits by 50% for residents in EMEL and TELPARK Parks. It also standardises the price of these covenants to €46.30, which translates into a discount for residents of more than 50% when we compare the value of the covenant for residents with the value of the covenants for the general public.
