As of April, in the Algarve, there were 14,698 registered unemployed people (4.6% of the national total). A value lower than March (18,236) but higher than the same month in 2023 (12,454). Although the Algarve registered the biggest variation (+ 18%) compared to last year, the tendency is for unemployment numbers to fall in the region by 19.4%, apparently due to the arrival of summer and the search for a greater number of people to work.

Alcoutim is the municipality with the lowest unemployment rate. In this, only 38 people are registered as not having work, while on the other side of the table, we find Portimão, which has the largest number of unemployed people (2,862).

Of the total number of unemployed people in the Algarve, the majority (11,207) have been registered with the IEFP for less than a year and only have secondary education (5,658).
