Residents of the Yamagarni village, in the Karnataka state of India, have put on a feast celebrating the return of Maharaj, an elderly dog who they thought was lost.

He joined his owner Kamalesh Kumbhar on a 250-kilometre pilgrimage to the sacred site of Pandharpur, in the neighbouring state of Maharashtra, but had gotten separated from him in the crowd.
Maharaj was at his door the next day though, having navigated home by memory.
