The Azores islands have been under a yellow warning due to “persistent high maximum temperatures” since 12:00 local time (13:00 in Lisbon) on Tuesday.
Initially, the yellow warning was in effect until Thursday but was later extended by the IPMA until 21:00 today.
However, a new yellow warning was issued today, which is valid until 21:00 on Sunday, covering all the islands of the Azores archipelago, in the Eastern, Central and Western groups.
The Eastern group is made up of the islands of São Miguel and Santa Maria, the Western group includes the islands of Flores and Corvo, while the Central group is made up of the islands of Faial, Pico, São Jorge, Graciosa and Terceira.
