“Between 6pm yesterday [Tuesday], when the most adverse weather conditions began, and 7am today, we have recorded 567 incidents, mainly related to wind, including 404 fallen trees, 14 floods, 20 road cleanings, 116 falling structures and 13 landslides,” José Costa, operations officer at ANEPC, told Lusa.

According to José Costa, 1,805 operatives and 627 land resources were involved in these incidents.

“The most affected areas were the Porto Metropolitan Area, Alto Minho and the Cávado Sub-Region,” he added.

According to José Costa, 262 incidents were recorded in the Porto Metropolitan Area, 52 in Alto Minho, 81 in Cávado, 35 in Tâmega e Sousa and 27 in Ave.

“We have no record of significant incidents, but we know that in some of them there was damage either due to falling structures or trees falling, especially private vehicles,” he said.

The same source said he had no indication of any roads being closed due to the bad weather, but admitted that there may be municipal roads affected.

“The wind phenomenon continues. The IPMA has also issued a series of warnings, mainly for precipitation, strong winds and sea waves. These warnings, mainly for wind and precipitation, remain in force until at least 12:00 today, with the warning being orange for wind in the northernmost districts,” he said.
