In a statement, Carris explains that it is now possible to pay with a 'contactless' card, physical or virtual, for trips directly at the validators of “all company vehicles”, covering buses, trams and the three elevators in the city of Lisbon.
“This is a historic day for Carris and for mobility in the city of Lisbon. With the introduction of payment by bank card, we reinforce our commitment to improving the travel experience of our customers, thus ensuring greater convenience and better accessibility when using our service”, says the president of Carris, Pedro Bogas.
The new payment option also allows the purchase of travel tickets for families or small groups, of up to a maximum of 10 people, by selecting the desired number of tickets directly on the validator.
“The option to pay with a bank card is valid for purchasing the on board fare, therefore each purchase is only valid for that trip”, warns the company.
