The source from the Alentejo Litoral Sub-Regional Emergency and Civil Protection Command told Lusa agency that the fire, for which an alert was given at 11:26 am, reached the Pinewells company factory located in Cercal do Alentejo.
The two injured, with burns, are company workers, said the same source.
According to Civil Protection, one of the men, aged 24, suffered serious injuries and was transported in a helicopter from the National Institute of Medical Emergency (INEM) to Santa Maria Hospital, in Lisbon.
The other, 27, with injuries considered minor, was taken by firefighters to the emergency room at Hospital do Litoral Alentejano, in Santiago do Cacém.
The fire, according to the source from the Alentejo Litoral Sub-Regional Emergency and Civil Protection Command, entered the aftermath phase at 1:48 pm and the fire perimeter has been under surveillance by firefighters since 2:42 pm.
The fight against the flames mobilized corporations from Cercal do Alentejo, Vila Nova de Milfontes, Santiago do Cacém and Alvalade do Sado, INEM and GNR, with a total of 33 operatives, supported by 15 vehicles and a helicopter.
Among the vehicles involved in the rescue, there is an Immediate Life Support ambulance (SIV) and an emergency and resuscitation medical vehicle (VMER).
Pinewells is a Visabeira group company that produces 'pellets', an organic fuel from wood.
