Two catteries were placed in Silves and Messines, one in Alcantarilha and another in Pêra.

This “project was developed jointly by the municipality and the Silves Prison Establishment”, since the prisoners “executed the shelters, with the materials that were provided by the city hall”.

“The municipal initiative aims to strengthen the well-being of cat colonies, allow their tracking, sterilisation and provision of medical-veterinary care, in addition to facilitating the work of caregivers and adoption”, says Silves council.
