The new 55 square meter sales space is located on the second floor of the Vasco da Gama shopping centre. It is the first on European soil outside of Spain – there are two others in Mexico -, where it has 20 of its own stores.
This year, when it also entered multi-brand stores in countries such as Greece, Uruguay or Puerto Rico, the brand co-led by Juan Fernández-Estrada and Nacho Rivera had opened two corners at El Corte Inglés in Lisbon and Vila Nova de Gaia, and now has a version of the official website in Portuguese.
Upon arrival in Portugal, Blue Banana had the support of Retail Mind. Founded in 2012 and headquartered in Vila Nova de Gaia, the specialist retail consultancy estimates that it has already advised on the expansion of 125 national and international brands and contributed to the opening of more than 2,800 stores.
CEO Vítor Rocha says that the opening of Blue Banana's first physical store in Portugal “further consolidates this journey”, projecting on the same note that “given the high potential of this brand in the Portuguese market, other locations are already being analysed, in other parts of the country, to continue expansion in 2025”.
